Anna Artaker is an artist and the first Elise Richter PEEK Fellow at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. She is also the first person to become a member of the Young Academy of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in the field of artistic research. Anna explores how making images of the world around us helps us to understand it, but also shapes our reality. To research the reality-creating function of images she has worked with found footage as well as with scientific imaging techniques, thus highlighting the shared origins of art and science. Her work is exhibited internationally, it received numerous awards and is part of public collections such as the mumok, the Albertina Museum or the Federal Photography Collection. Anna studied philosophy and political science at the University of Vienna and the Université Paris VIII as well as conceptual art at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. She has taught at the Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen, the Merz Academy in Stuttgart and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Since 2020 she has been teaching at the Department of Theatre, Film and Media Studies at the University of Vienna.
